Smiles for All Ages
At Stavisky Orthodontics, we’re experienced at serving Vineland, Bridgeton, and Pennsville patients of all ages. And that makes sense — there’s no age limit on wanting a beautiful, happy smile!
Treatment can look slightly different depending on what stage of life you’re in. Whatever age you’re at, we’ve got you covered.
Orthodontics for Children
Some parents are surprised to learn that Dr. Stavisky and the American Association of Orthodontists recommend children should see an orthodontist no later than their seventh birthday.
That’s because, by age seven, the permanent (adult) molars and incisors are starting to come in.
Early (Phase I) Treatment
Early treatment gives Dr. Stavisky the opportunity to:
- Safely widen the upper jaw
- Reduce the need to remove permanent teeth
- Reduce or eliminate the need for jaw surgery
- Decrease risk of trauma to protruded front teeth
- Stop harmful habits such as thumb-sucking
- Improve aesthetics and self-esteem
- Simplify and shorten treatment time for definitive orthodontic treatment
- Decrease the likelihood of impacted teeth
- Improve speech development and lip competence
- Guide permanent teeth into the proper position
This is the perfect time for Dr. Stavisky to see if there are any possible issues with tooth eruption and development.
Most problems can be treated with a later single phase of treatment, but sometimes an early, limited phase of orthodontics can be just what a child needs.
Does My Child Need Phase I Treatment?
Phase I treatment may be right for your child if they show signs of:
- Crossbite — whether it’s in the front or in the back
- Habits such as thumbsucking or mouth breathing
- Severe crowding
- Blocked out or impacted teeth
- Space maintenance if a baby tooth is lost early
- Self-esteem issues due to spaced or crooked teeth
How Long Does Phase I Treatment Last?
This phase is often limited to 12 – 14 months. Depending on the development and eruption of the permanent teeth, a second phase of treatment after the eruption of the permanent teeth may or may not be necessary.
Orthodontics for Teens
The teenage years are perfect for orthodontic treatment since your teen's permanent teeth have fully emerged, and their jaws are nearly finished growing but still more easily adjustable than that of adults.
Check out some of these great reasons why teen years are ortho years in Vineland, Bridgeton, and Pennsville:
- Confidence Boost: It’s normal for teens to be self-conscious about their appearance. Orthodontic treatment can work wonders in this area. By transforming their smile, teens can get a serious boost of confidence.
- Oral Health Matters: Straight teeth are easier to clean since there are fewer nooks and crannies to hide bacteria. Orthodontic treatment doesn’t just enhance your teen’s smile but also reduces the risk of dental issues like tooth decay and gum disease. It's an investment in their long-term health and well-being.
- Improving Bite Alignment: Orthodontic treatment isn't just about looks. It can also address bite problems such as overbites, underbites, and crossbites. A proper bite is crucial for your teen’s oral health and function. So, get ready for a healthy bite that not only looks great but also does wonders for your overall dental well-being.
With orthodontic treatment, your teen is on their way to a confident smile, improved oral health, and a properly aligned bite. Let us guide you on this transformative journey toward a lifetime of smiles and well-being.
Teens Love Choices
At Stavisky Orthodontics, we know your teen is special and has their own priorities for care. We offer various options, including metal braces, LightForce clear braces, and Invisalign, so your teen can choose a treatment that fits their lifestyle and preferences.
Orthodontics for Adults
We commonly think of orthodontics as a treatment for kids and teens, but it turns out that one-in-five new Vineland, Bridgeton, and Pennsville orthodontic patients are over the age of 18.
It shouldn’t be a shock since treatment is faster, more effective, and more affordable than ever before — and we believe adults deserve a healthy smile just as much as our little ones and teens.
At Stavisky Orthodontics, that’s just what you’ll get.
Why Get Treatment as an Adult?
Many of our patients seek treatment for a more beautiful smile, but the biggest benefit is more often a healthier bite!
By seeking orthodontic treatment as an adult, you can avoid severe tooth decay, gum and bone loss, and TMJ pain.
Talk to your dentist about adding orthodontics to your restorative treatment plan to increase the stability, aesthetics, and possibilities for your planned restorations!
What Are My Options?
With so many new treatment options, more adults than ever are choosing to improve their smiles. Whether you’re in sales or in front of a classroom, we’ve got a treatment for you.
LightForce clear braces are tooth-colored brackets that disappear on the teeth. LightForce brackets are even better than traditional braces since each one is custom-made for your smile. That means treatment is faster and more efficient across-the-board.
Invisalign gives you a series of clear plastic aligners that progressively move your teeth. We’ll change the trays every two to three weeks during treatment. Aligners are great for those worried about their hygiene during treatment since you can brush and floss just like you normally would.
